Case Western Reserve University, Freshwater Wind, and Nautica Windpower have been awarded new federal resources to research advanced wind turbine systems to spur the development of clean energy technology.
Three Northeast Ohio institutions will receive new federal resources to develop offshore wind energy. Case Western Reserve University, Freshwater Wind, and Nautica Windpower have been awarded new federal resources to research advanced wind turbine systems to spur the development of clean energy technology. The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy program will finance new offshore wind power R&D projects. The new resources are expected to help spur new technological innovations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in creating new offshore wind energy systems.
“Ohio is at the forefront of clean energy technology development, and we can make Northeast Ohio a hub for offshore wind, research, and manufacturing. Offshore wind has the potential to bring thousands of good-paying jobs to our state and a clean, renewable source of energy to northeast Ohio homes and businesses,” U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown says. “This federal investment from the U.S. Department of Energy will provide a key boost to CWRU, Freshwater Wind, and Nautica Windpower to continue the critical research and development that will bring wind turbines to Lake Erie.”
