EnerG2 Officials Announce Manufacturing Milestones

Company Also Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of OR Plant

Officials for EnerG2, a Seattle, WA-based company manufacturing advanced nano-structured materials for next-generation energy storage applications, have announced new business milestones on the one-year anniversary of the opening of its state-of-the-art plant in Albany, OR.

A year after coming online, the Albany facility remains the only manufacturing plant in the world dedicated to the commercial-scale production of engineered carbon material. These materials are destined for use in high-performance energy storage applications.

“We’re getting exciting traction in a variety of applications and industries,” says Rick Luebbe, EnerG2’s CEO, “and we’re delivering 21st century manufacturing products that will ultimately transform the way energy is used around the world.”

Adds Robert Lutz, a member of EnerG2’s Board and the former Vice Chairman of General Motors: “The transportation sector is already benefiting from EnerG2’s innovative and customized carbon manufacturing process, and the company is clearly on track to play a significant role in the way vehicles operate in the coming decades.”

Since the commencement of plant operations, EnerG2 has:

  • Established working relationships and partnerships with over 100 significant companies across the globe focused on energy storage application development. This is a more-than 60% increase over the past year.
  • Expanded to more than 50 people throughout the company driving 21st century breakthroughs at the manufacturing facility.
  • Implemented processes, procedures, and installed large-scale equipment to allow for 100% production capacity at the 72,000ft2 facility.

EnerG2’s Albany operations leverage the company’s proprietary Carbon Technology Platform (CTP) to produce engineered high-purity carbon materials for a wide range of energy storage applications. The CTP allows EnerG2 to manufacture best-in-class materials for batteries (Li-Ion anodes, Lead-acid additives, and other advanced chemistry electrodes) and ultracapacitors.

The EnerG2 manufacturing process controls the molecular structure and synthesis of these advanced materials at the earliest production stages and provides flexibility and reduced costs, while maximizing performance. Delivering these tailored carbons to energy storage device manufacturers allows the manufacturers to increase device utilization and performance; as a result, they can offer end consumers a fundamentally better cost for performance tradeoff.
