Steptoe & Johnson PLLC is undertaking a groundbreaking study focused exclusively on legal trends for businesses working to develop U.S. shale assets. The findings from this study will be shared with energy developers across the country.

The survey will gather information from executives, lawyers, and other professionals about legal disputes and other matters connected with developing oil and gas in shale formations throughout the United States.  The ultimate goal of the study is to provide information that will be useful to energy developers as they pursue activities in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays in the Appalachian Basin, the Bakken shale, the Eagle Ford shale, and beyond.

“Steptoe & Johnson commissioned this study to give oil and gas companies solid information about the challenges they may encounter as they buy, sell, develop or produce shale gas assets,” says Betsy Beorn Spellman, chief marketing officer, Steptoe & Johnson. “We think the shale gas industry will receive guidance from the survey findings that will be extremely valuable in their planning and development activities.”
